Since my last report on Tuesday it has been a fairly busy week. Wednesday morning I ran 3.5 miles and then Denise and I did speedwork in the afternoon. She is having major blister problems that hopefully will be resolved with a change in shoes later in the week. We are trying a new speedwork that combines our regular interval training with Yasso 800s. If you are not familiar with these just Google it and you will find the method and purpose. Needless to say it was a good workout and the boys had a blast riding bikes and scooters around the track with us and even running a few laps.
Thursday was another 4.25 miles then Friday was a rest day before the long runs on Saturday. I got out first for a 12 miler then Denise and a friend went out for a little more than 7 miles. This morning I put in 5 miles as a recovery run (done a minute or more slower than race pace the day after a long run) and will begin a week of tapering prior to the Vancouver Waterfront 12k this coming Sunday. Denise is still fighting the blisters but did the long run with moleskin, the new shoes and new socks and is toughing it through (not sure I could with those blisters).
Mays milage total was 149 after 106.5 in April for a total of 255.5 in marathon preparation. No races this entire month but will run at least one and probably two in June. Here is to great weather!
