Yesterday was the Albertina Kerr Race for the Roses Annual 5K and Half-Marathon. With races the next two weeks I chose to do the 5K with a goal time of 25 minutes. The weather was great - sun with cool temperatures and I was able to start near the front of the field and avoid traffic. My finish time was a personal best in the 5k of 22:20 (7:11 per mile pace) and I finished 87th out of 1,269 and 5th in my age group. Special thanks to Susan and Duane Stanley for encouraging me to participate in this run.
Since next week is the Spring Classic Duathlon I decided to use yesterday as a warmup and went out for a 17.5 mile bike ride when I got home from the race then wrapped up with a 3.5 mile run.
This morning was a beautiful sunrise on the lake and a "recovery run" of 4.25 miles. Total miles in training 18.25.
